Hotelogix acquires another customer 'Aquarius On The Beach' from Fiji, as part of its 'Switch to Cloud' Campaign to transition from a Legacy PMS
Hotelogix is proud to announce that ‘Aquarius On The Beach’, a budget boutique hotel in Fiji, recently switched over to Hotelogix’s cloud based PMS after using a traditional legacy system for quite some time.

The hotel felt a need for change because they required a PMS which was easy to use, cost efficient, and simple to adapt; something Hotelogix’s cloud based solution could easily provide.

Aquarius On The Beach is located right on Wailoaloa Beach in Nadi, Fiji. The 15 room family-owned establishment provides their guests with a unique, enjoyable stay and has facilities like restaurant, bar, taxi, tour desk and a shop. Previously the hotel used a legacy system which was extremely complicated and cumbersome and used to create several accounting-related issues, leading to operational errors and inaccuracies in billing. The software being used required efforts and investments on in-house IT infrastructure and support mechanisms, and the solution, while on use, experienced data loss, multiple crashes and required frequent reloading.

The boutique hotel also faced product support issues, which were inadequate and delayed. The owner Mr. Dale Hermanson, did not reside in Nadi, so it became an overbearing issue for him to keep tabs on the hotel’s operations, especially when they encountered operational errors due to their PMS facing issues because of lack of IT support. “I don't reside in Nadi, so for me to be able to keep track on occupancy, up to date reporting, and to be able to make any changes to the settings, rates, etc. a cloud-based PMS was the logical choice.”

Aquarius On The Beach conducted an extensive research on cloud based property management systems available in the market before short listing 4 companies. After examining these companies based on price, features of the system, ease of use, level of back up provided and other features that could be used later, they narrowed their list further. After an extremely detailed analysis Mr. Hermanson and his staff realized that Hotelogix was the best option for them. “We liked the user-friendly aspect of Hotelogix and the fact that we could alter things ourselves to tailor the system so that it suited our unique needs and situation for now and later in the future.”

When the hotel moved from their old system to Hotelogix, the transition happened smoothly, because the Hotelogix team was quick and helpful to answer any queries made. Hotelogix ensured that the hotel’s day to day operations were not disturbed in any way due to the switch over, and helped migrate the hotel’s existing guest list, and future reservations. They closely hand held the Aquarius team throughout the process, brought them up to speed, and uploaded all their new data as per the hotel’s requirements.

Since switching over, Aquarius On The Beach has been able to streamline their operations by using the various functionality of Hotelogix’ cloud based tool; they could use a single, comprehensive console for accomplishing multiple tasks at any single point of time. The hotel uses Siteminder as their channel manager, and it was getting a little taxing for them to manage Siteminder and their legacy PMS as two different systems. Switching over to Hotelogix made life simpler for them because Hotelogix is integrated with Siteminder and Aquarius could now manage their PMS and channel manager from a single system. Subsequently they implemented the POS system in their bar and restaurant and moved away from using the archaic cash register to the modern iPad to manage their POS. This greatly streamlined and eased the burden of tracking sales of guests, since all charges would automatically be linked to the guest’s folio and would be charged directly to their room before they checked out. The hotel has also introduced Xero as their accounting software, the primary reason being that of its integration with Hotelogix. As Mr. Hermanson rightfully states, “Having a fully integrated system makes all the sense in the world and saves time instead of manually keying in sales and banking transactions.”
