Hotelogix, a global provider of cloud-based hospitality software solutions, along with Amazon Internet Services Pvt. Ltd., ShawMan Software Pvt. Ltd. and Airpay Payment Services Pvt. Ltd, hosted an event to create synergy amongst the hospitality community about the cloud-based PMS (Property Management System) Technology.
The event that was held in three metros- Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi on 14th, 18th and 21st July respectively, aimed at addressing pain points of the industry using technology solutions that not only improve efficiency, but also help maximize revenue.
Industry experts like Amit Kapoor, Co-Founder & CEO, Airpay Payment Services Pvt. Ltd; Jimmy Shaw, Managing Director, ShawMan Software Pvt. Ltd.; Aditya Sanghi, CEO & Co-Founder, Hotelogix and Sivaprasad Gangadharan, SVP Enterprise Business, Hotelogix, along with experts from Amazon Internet Services were part of the event and shared their views on how to leverage the right cloud-based technologies to become more competitive and agile in the hospitality industry.
Influx of global brands in the Indian market has put a great deal of pressure on existing Indian players, who lack right technology and tools to up the ante, and take the competition head-on. They have been using traditional client-server models (also known as 'on-premise') that instead of helping hotels make the entire process tedious and difficult to handle.
Talking about the benefits and future of cloud technology, Aditya Sanghi, CEO and Co-founder, Hotelogix said, "With the rapid digitization happening in the travel industry, it's imperative for hoteliers to upgrade their operations to cloud-based solutions that will enable them to respond to the changing market dynamics. It's important they embrace this change to grow their businesses with the opportunities the online world comes with." Aditya goes on to say, "Delaying this switch, they are not just loosing ongoing business but also run the risk of being left behind in this competitive world."
Cloud computing, today, is enabling new business models, transforming business processes, changing market dynamics and, in some cases, creating new markets altogether. It is empowering the customers with a plethora of choices and gradually making legacy systems redundant. The experts at the event talked about various benefits of cloud-technology and how it is not just helping hotels manage better, but also earn revenue.
Here are the key takeaways from the three-day event:
Cloud helps hotels focus on core businesses and lets them differentiate their offerings instead of worrying about managing on-premise servers and software
The cost-effective cloud system centralizes hotel operations for efficient management
They enable hotels to have real-time MIS helping better and faster decisions
They allow centralized controls and guest history without any fear of system crashing or loss of vital information
Revenue management systems help drive pricing decisions based on LOS, day of the week patterns, seasonality et al.
Reputation management systems consolidate reviews happening across the globe in different cities and help hotels respond faster when a complaint is raised
The event concluded with a survey of more than 100 respondents from the industry. It revealed that over 80 percent of hoteliers are planning to migrate to cloud-based PMS in the near future. Over 60 percent of the respondents mentioned that 'maximizing revenue' is the biggest challenge they're facing today. While 11 to 30 per cent of the overall bookings are now happening from online sources, 50 percent of the respondents feel that their hotels are only partially present online, where their customers are increasingly moving.
