In the ever-competitive hotel industry, online reputation and reviews play a major role in influencing travelers. The higher the quality and quantity of the reviews, the higher the chances will be of converting your hotel lookers into bookers. It is common that when booking an accommodation, travelers look for reviews posted by other travelers to get an idea about the hotel and its services. It is also seen that travelers who visit hotel review pages on OTA are twice as likely to convert.
People of all age groups perform online travel research and 93% of them find reviews important when determining which hotel they want to book. As per the a survey, 53% of people would not book a hotel without reading a guest opinion about it. Such user-generated content becomes a major factor for decision-making for the Internet savvy travelers.
Hotels are going to great lengths to increase their online reviews. Some are actually paying people to write positive reviews, while a few are even making their staff pose as guests to write reviews. There have been instances of hotels in Britain and other countries bribing guests for submitting positive reviews in exchange of discounted room prices and meals. However, what these hotels don’t realize is that this practice could cost them a fortune as they have chances of getting flagged by the review sites for modified or counterfeit reviews.
Having worked with small and independent hotels in more than 85 countries, I understand the value of reviews for hotels. This is why Hotelogix, in partnership with TripAdvisor, is conducting a webinar exclusively for independent hotels on ‘How to maximize reviews on TripAdvisor’. Attend this webinar on 19th August to learn how to effectively use the power of reviews to influence potential guests, how to tap into the power of automated review collection tools and understand other hotels have been successful in maximizing reviews using automated technology. Hear from Fernando Oliveira, Senior Manager of Review Express (TripAdvisor), and John Pribble , Owner of German Village Guest House, Ohio who will be happy to answer any questions at the end of the webinar.
